Sport Premium

At Lime Tree, our aim is to create a life-long love of sport and physical activity in our pupils, through exposing them to a wide range of sporting activities. This is developed in pupils in our Nursery; advancing their movement and space skills, through to Year 6 pupils applying game related skills in their appropriate context.

Pupils at Lime Tree receive 2 hours of PE a week. Sports Premium funding is partially used to support the cost and development of our teachers' delivery of PE.

Throughout the year pupils will participate in a wide range of sporting activities such as Rugby, Football, Basketball, Gymnastics, Dance, Cricket, Rounders, Outdoor Adventurous Activities and Athletics. As pupils progress through the school these skills are developed from fundamental skills such as hand-eye co-ordination and spatial awareness to complex combination of skills such as performing Gymnastics routines that include the use of apparatus, flight and locomotion and applying game related strategies such as offensive and defensive lines in Rugby.

For our Year 5 and 6 pupils we offer swimming lessons that take place at the local swimming pool (Houghton Regis Leisure Centre) which is within a 5-minute walk from the school. They receive one lesson a week for half the year and this replaces the teacher delivered PE lesson for that period. To support this, the school does ask for a £2.50 contribution towards the cost of using the swimming pool and the hiring of specialist swimming coaches.

Sports Premium is not used to subsidise swimming.
